On the first day of the Global Innovator Mindset class, there is almost always a moment when the students say to themselves, “This is it!”. This is after I explain the purpose of the class.
“The purpose of this class is not to succeed in your business. If you want to make that your first priority, you can take any business success seminar. The success of an innovator is to innovate society and make the world a better place. In this sense, you need to succeed in business because your success will lead to a better society.”
At first, students are worried about whether they can succeed. That’s natural. However, when they learn the innovator mindset, their focus shifts from how to succeed in business to how to innovate, which should be the innovator mindset. This is one of the first important changes for innovators.
“Look, you want to do business that is really good for society, so you can’t afford to be unrecognized, financially disadvantaged, and isolated. You’ll happen to realize that your business is so-called successful on the path to innovation.” Their eyes change at this moment and I love it.
We, as educators, or senior entrepreneurs, have a responsibility to help them succeed. That’s why we exist.
